Alternate Dispute Resolution

Alternative dispute resolution is a tool for the resolution of disputes through means other than a trial. Such alternate means for the resolution of disputes are being increasingly utilized by courts and litigants in order to avoid lengthy, expensive, and often disruptive process of litigation. One of most important and critical tools for the alternate dispute of civil resolutions is mediation, which is an assisted settlement negotiation.

William W. Watts, III, a partner in Pipes Hudson & Watts, L.L.P., is a trained mediator who is appointed by both state and federal courts in the mediation of various kinds of civil disputes.
